With their managerial search concluded with today's hiring of Paul Molitor, the Twins are now turning their focus to player additions for next season. According to Darren Wolfson of 1500ESPN.com, Minnesota has expressed interest in outfielder Torii Hunter in the first few days of free agency.
Hunter, 39, has expressed interest in returning to the Tigers for next season but has also been linked to the Royals and many other teams in recent rumors. A homecoming to Minnesota, where Hunter spent the first eleven seasons of his career from 1997 to 2007 is possible, especially as Hunter comes to the end of his career and the Twins search for outfield help on the free agent market.
Hunter is likely to be one of the first free agents off the board this winter, as his track record shows that he likes to make quick decisions in free agencies. He signed his first free agent deal with the Angels on November 22, 2007, and three years later signed his deal with the Tigers on November 16, 2010, so he may again want to get a deal done by the end of the month.
