Marlins, Braves, Giants interested in Jake Peavy

The right-hander is expected to get a multi-year deal.

Free-agent right-hander Jake Peavy is drawing interest from the Marlins, Braves and Giants, according to a report from Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com. With most free-agent starters off the board, Peavy is one of the top second-tier options remaining behind Max Scherzer and James Shields.

Rosenthal notes that the Marlins will only be interested if new acquisition Dan Haren is traded or retires, which he has threatened to do after being acquired from the Dodgers last week. Haren is said to be making a decision on his future, and has been in contact with the Marlins' front office since the deal.

Peavy, 33, is expected to receive a two- or three-year deal on the open market, and could tru the Giants, with whom he spent the second half of last season. Peavy was excellent in the team's World Series run, posting a 2.17 ERA in twelve starts after being acquired from the Red Sox in mid-July.
