Jason Hamel

OK, I have a bit of a hypothetical dilemma.

So, I am running a simulated team based off of free agents and waiver claims and trades approved by trusted sources (beat writers, others knowledgeable about baseball etc.). I am working off of an annual player budget of $75,000,000 with the modifications of waiver claims and cash involved in trades. Anyway, I had been in on Jason Hamel for a few weeks. I would have offered 3 years worth $24,000,000. Therefore, the AAV is $2,000,000 less than the Chicago Cubs deal. Now, if I was an actual GM and this sim team was real, I would attempt to work out a deal with Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer involving me signing hamel while eating some salary in exchange for a small return. Ok, so here is the proposal:

Chicago Cubs acquire Jason Hamel and $2,000,000 in exchange for Jacob Turner and Donn Roach.

Now, I don't know whether or not I would be overpaying, or underpaying or making a solid trade. This is my projected rotation WITH this trade.

1.) Brandon McCarthy

2.) Kris Medlin

3.) Brandon Beachy

4.) Jacob Turner

5.) Brad Hand

with Ryan Vogelsong and Edinson Volquez as legitimate fall back options.

Now, the stance of the team for this season is to add a solid young core by signing some bounce-back candidates and trading them at the deadline. For example, I have made trades for John Jaso, Craig Gentry and Dioner Navarro. So, if anyone has any suggestions, I welcome them greatly!

Thanks everyone
