The Kansas City Royals have claimed Jimmy Paredes off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles, according to a team announcement. Paredes was exiled from Baltimore's 40-man roster to make room for new addition Suk-min Yoon, who recently passed his physical with the team.

Paredes, 25, will head to his fourth organization of the offseason after being claimed off waivers on three separate occasions. After spending last season with the Astros, Paredes was claimed by the Marlins in early November before being designated for assignment in early February. On Saturday, he was claimed off waivers by the Orioles, only to be claimed by the Royals two days later.

Paredes hit .192 with 1 HR and 10 RBI in his third major league season with Houston last year, seeing time at second base, third base, and right field. He spent 86 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City, hitting .287 with 8 HR and 37 RBI.

Paredes is out of minor league options, so he will either make the Royals or be passed through waivers if they want to send him to the minor leagues. Jarrod Dyson, Justin Maxwell and Carlos Peguero are all out of options as well, so the four will compete for the fourth and fifth outfielder spots on the Royals' roster.

In parts of three major league seasons with the Astros, Paredes is a lifetime .234 hitter with 3 HR and 31 RBI. To make room for him on the 40-man roster, right-hander Maikel Cleto was designated for assignment.
