Brian Burres to hold showcase Thursday

The left-hander spent 2013 in Taiwan, and is looking to return to the US.

Free agent left-hander Brian Burres will throw for interested teams and scouts in southern Florida on Thursday, according to his agent, Marc Kligman of Total Care Sports Management. Burres spent the 2013 season with the Lamigo Monkeys of Taiwan, and is now looking to return to the United States for this season.

Burres, 32, spent 2012 in the Giants' system, posting a 4-6 record and 5.13 ERA in 22 starts with Triple-A Fresno. He has 106 games (56 starts) of major league experience with the Orioles (2006-2008), Blue Jays (2009) and Pirates (2010-2011), totaling a career 18-25 record and 5.75 ERA in 358.1 innings.

Burres spent significant time as a member of the Orioles' rotation in 2007 and 2008, starting 39 games in those two seasons. He last appeared in the majors with the Pirates in 2011, notching a 3.86 ERA in five games (two starts) after spending the season in the starting rotation at Triple-A Indianapolis.
