Injuries

  • The New York Yankees placed right fielder Carlos Beltran on the 15-day DL, retroactive to May 13, with right elbow inflammation, and purchased the contract of right-hander Chase Whitley from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the team announced.
  • The Toronto Blue Jays placed center fielder Colby Rasmus on the 15-day DL, retroactive to May 13, with right hamstring tightness, the team announced. Outfielder Anthony Gose was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to fill Rasmus' roster spot.
  • The New York Mets placed catcher Travis d'Arnaud on the 7-day DL, retroactive to May 14, with a concussion, the team announced. Catcher Juan Centeno was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas.
  • The Yankees activated right-hander Bruce Billings from the 15-day DL and designated him for assignment, the team announced.

Roster Moves

  • The New York Mets sent right-handed reliever Kyle Farnsworth outright to Triple-A Las Vegas and recalled left-hander Josh Edgin from Triple-A, according to a team announcement.

Trades

  • The San Diego Padres traded first baseman Kyle Blanks to the Oakland A's for left fielder Jake Goebbert and a player to be named later, as reported by ESPN's Jerry Crasnick. The Oakland A's designated first baseman Daric Barton for assignment to free up space on the roster.

  • Rehab assignments: Bruce Billings (Trenton), Adam Eaton (Charlotte), Chris Sale (Charlotte), Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez (Clearwater)
