Injuries

  • The Washington Nationals placed left-hander Gio Gonzalez on the 15-day DL with left shoulder inflammation, though the injury will not require surgery, according to a team announcement.  The team will recall Ryan Mattheus from Triple-A Syracuse to fill the vacant roster spot.

Roster Moves

  • The Cincinnati Reds activated left-hander Tony Cingrani from the 15-day DL and optioned Tucker Barnhart to Triple-A Louisville, per a team announcement. Cingrani allowed four runs in six innings in his return on Sunday.
  • The Colorado Rockies activated catcher Wilin Rosario from the 15-day DL and optioned Michael McKenry to Triple-A Colorado Springs in a corresponding move, the team announced. Rosario went 1-for-4 with a run scored in his first game back on Sunday.
  • The Detroit Tigers activated right-hander Anibal Sanchez from the 15-day DL and optioned Justin Miller to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move, according to a team announcement. Sanchez allowed one earned run in five innings to pick up his first win of the season on Sunday.

Rumors

Signings

  • The Oakland Athletics claimed Jeff Francis off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds and optioned Joe Savery to Triple-A Sacramento. The team also transferred shortstop Jake Elmore to the 60-day DL from the 15-day DL. (Via Athletics Twitter account)
