Injuries

• The Chicago White Sox activated left-hander Chris Sale from the 15-day DL and designated right-hander Frank Francisco for assignment, according to a team announcement. Sale allowed one hit over six shutout innings in his return.

• The Tampa Bay Rays activated right-hander Alex Cobb from the 15-day DL and optioned Kevin Kiermaier to Triple-A Durham, the team announced. Cobb went 6.2 scoreless innings in the Rays' extra-inning victory on Friday.

• The San Francisco Giants placed right-hander Santiago Casilla on the 15-day DL with a strained right hamstring and recalled George Kontos from Triple-A Fresno, the team announced.

• The Pittsburgh Pirates activated catcher Russell Martin from the 15-day DL and designated left-hander Wandy Rodriguez for assignment, per a team announcement.
