Injuries

  • The Tampa Bay Rays activated right-hander Alex Cobb from the 15-day DL and optioned Kevin Kiermaier to Triple-A Durham, the team announced. Cobb went 6.2 scoreless innings in the Rays' extra-inning victory on Friday.
  • The Baltimore Orioles placed right-hander Tommy Hunter on the 15-day DL, retroactive to May 21, with a left groin strain and recalled Preston Guilmet from Triple-A Norfolk, the team announced.
  • The San Diego Padres placed left-hander Robbie Erlin on the 15-day DL, retroactive to May 18, with left eblow soreness, and purchased the contract of Blaine Boyer from Triple-A El Paso. (Via Padres Twitter account)

Roster Moves

  • The Washington Nationals optioned Ryan Mattheus to Triple-A Syracuse and recalled right-hander Blake Treinen from Triple-A, per a team announcement. Treinen allowed a pair of runs in 5.2 innings in the Nats' loss on Thursday.
  • The Miami Marlins purchased the contract of Chris Hatcher from Triple-A New Orleans and optioned Anthony De Sclafani down to Triple-A. The team also transferred Rafael Furcal from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL. (Via Marlins Twitter account)
  • The Pittsburgh Pirates designated right-hander Phil Irwin for assignment, the team announced.
