  • The New York Mets recalled Andrew Brown from Triple-A Las Vegas and designated right-hander Buddy Carlyle for assignment, the team announced. Brown homered in his return to the majors on Thursday.
  • The Boston Red Sox optioned right-hander Steven Wright to Triple-A Pawtucket and transferred catcher Ryan Lavarnway from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL with a fractured left hamate, per a team announcement.
  • The Colorado Rockies placed right-hander Jordan Lyles on the 15-day DL with a fractured third metatarsal in his left hand and recalled Chris Martin from Triple-A Colorado Springs, the team announced. The team also placed left-hander Boone Logan on the 15-day DL with left elbow inflammation.
  • The Pittsburgh Pirates sent Vin Mazzaro outright to Triple-A Indianapolis, per a team announcement.
