Padres trade rumors: Chris Denorfia drawing interest, could be moved soon

The Giants, Blue Jays and Mariners are all showing interest in the outfielder.

The Padres are working to move outfielder Chris Denorfia "sooner rather than later", according to baseball sources close to the situation. Denorfia is drawing interest from multiple teams looking for outfield help, including the Giants, Mariners and Blue Jays, according to sources.

Denorfia, 34, has hit .244/.295/.321 and is considered the most likely Padre to be dealt following trades that sent Huston Street to the Angels and Chase Headley to the Yankees. Denorfia is a free agent after the season, meaning that he would be a rental piece for a contender who is looking to add an outfielder without giving up valuable prospect pieces.

The Royals could also jump into the Denorfia market if they are unable to land targets Marlon Byrd or Alex Rios, and have reportedly been in touch with the Padres about a potential move. With four days left to go before the trade deadline, it seems as though a move involving Denorfia is very likely to happen.
