Red Sox trade rumors: John Lackey, Andrew Miller among pitchers drawing interest

John Lackey, Andrew Miller, Burke Badenhop and Koji Uehara could be moved.

The last couple of days have been dominated with Jake Peavy rumors, but he's not the only Red Sox pitcher who could get moved before the deadline.

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Sox are most interested in dealing Peavy, but are also receiving lots of trade interest in right-hander John Lackey. Lackey, 35, has pitched to a 9-6 record and 3.84 ERA on the season, and is under team control at the league minimum next season due to an insurance clause in his contract.

Left-handed reliever Andrew Miller is also expected to be a hot name at the trade deadline, according to Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com. The 29-year old, who has posted a 2.34 ERA in 34.2 innings so far this season, is already being scouted by the Braves and could become one of the most coveted left-handed relief arms on the trade market. He is a free agent after the season and the Red Sox would like to retain him, so Edes opines that they could trade him with the intention of re-signing him this offseason.

In addition to Miller, bullpen pieces like Burke Badenhop, Craig Breslow and even Koji Uehara could be on the move this month. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com writes that the Dodgers would have interest in those players if they are made available, and Breslow has already been linked to the Angels in trade rumors.

As the Red Sox decide whether or not they will sell as the deadline approaches, their arms seem to be their most valuable assets. They will look to acquire outfield or catching help in return.
