Kyle Lobstein traded to the Pirates

The Pirates have acquired left-handed starter, Kyle Lobstein, from the Tigers.

Earlier today, the Tigers announced that they sent Kyle Lobstein to the Pirates.

In 63.2 innings at the major league level in 2015, Lobstein posted a K/9 of 4.52, a BB/9 of 3.25, along with an ERA of 5.94, and an FIP of 4.64.

While Lobstein has primarily been a starting pitcher throughout his career, he's listed on the Pirates' depth chart as a reliever. He only has 10.1 innings under his belt coming out of the bullpen, but unfortunately there isn't much of a difference compared to his statistics as a starter.

Despite his subpar career thus far, anytime a struggling pitcher is shipped of to Pittsburgh, there's seemingly always hope. Their pitching coach, Ray Searage, has been credited (fairly or unfairly) with many turnarounds that have happened under his watch, and Lobstein will be his newest project heading into spring training.
