NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Reds and Indians are in talks about a deal that would send third baseman Todd Frazier to Cleveland, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. It is unclear how close the sides are to a deal at this time.
Cleveland is known to be looking for help at third base, as they have expressed interest in trading for Athletics infielder Brett Lawrie. Oakland is in serious talks to send Lawrie to the White Sox, causing the Indians to turn their attention elsewhere as they look to make an addition
The Reds are known to be shopping all of their veterans at the Winter Meetings, and have likely turned their attention to dealing Frazier and Jay Bruce after their deal with the Dodgers involving Aroldis Chapman collapsed. Multiple teams are looking for help at third base this winter, though the free-agent class at the position is limited to David Freese and a few backup types.
Frazier, 29, is a 2-time All-Star who hit .255 with 35 home runs for the Reds last season. He won the Home Run Derby at his home park in July.
