Washington is a 6/1 favorite to win the World Series but the club may not win with its current roster. The Nationals could add several pieces to make a title realistic.

Brewers' Khris Davis out with knee surgery

Davis told reporters a meniscus cleanup went well but he could still be out for up to six weeks. Hector Gomez, Jason Rogers, and Hernan Perez will receive starting time in his absence.

Red Sox acquire Alejandro De Aza

De Aza was designated for assignment by the Orioles before being acquired by the Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations. The R ed Sox had been in pursuit of a left-handed bat.

Reds' Marlon Byrd out with wrist injury

Byrd was hit by a pitch earlier in the week and has been a consistent contributor to Cincinnati's offense. Skip Schumaker and Brennan Boesh are replacement options but the Reds are confident the injury is not notably serious.

Cubs place Jorge Soler on 15-day DL

Soler, who was off to a slow offensive start but had some success at the plate in May, will be sidelined with an ankle sprain.

Rockies' Jordan Lyles out for season

Lyles will have toe surgery and will be out for the remainder of the 2015 campaign. Colorado has a few internal options they could turn to for the rest of the year.

Mariners acquire Mark Trumbo

Although the Diamondbacks were reportedly not considering moving Trumbo, a deal with Seattle was completed. Arizona also received Vidal Nuno in exchange for Dominic Leone, Welington Castillo, and Jack Reinheimer.

Braves seeking bullpen help

Atlanta traded away a notable amount of talent and is in pursuit of relief help early in 2015.

Diamondbacks place Archie Bradley on DL

Bradley was placed on the disabled list with shoulder tendinitis. Robbie Ray was recalled from Triple-A.

Devin Mesoraco wants to return as an outfielder

And it could happen fairly quickly.

Rafael Soriano will throw for teams on Thursday

Soriano has yet to sign with a major league club but is optimistic after switching agents.

Yankees, Nationals interested in Ben Zobrist

Both clubs are seeking depth and Zobrist is a candidate to be dealt before the non-waiver trade deadline.

Astros interested in Cole Hamels

Houston has been linked to various starting pitchers and Hamels might make the most sense.

Mets want to trade Dillon Gee, Jon Niese

New York is seeking offense and could use both pitchers to acquire a bat.

Astros promote Carlos Correa

Correa is the fourth best prospect in baseball and is expected to contribute immediately.
