Despite rumors that the Rangers are still deep in talks for Cole Hamels, the team may also look to sell some pieces at the trade deadline. According to reports from Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, Rangers' veterans Yovani Gallardo and Mitch Moreland are drawing interest on the trade market.
Texas is listening on Gallardo, according to Rosenthal, who reports that the team could be both buyers and sellers at the deadline. The 29-year old right-hander has posted a solid 2.91 ERA in twenty starts for the Rangers this season after being traded from the Brewers, and will likely draw interest from contenders as a potentially-cheaper alternative to Hamels and Johnny Cueto.
Moreland is drawing "significant interest" despite the Rangers not being motivated to move him, and will likely be of interest to teams looking for offense such as the Angels, Pirates and Astros. He is hitting .287/.333/.529 with sixteen homers and 46 RBI in 70 games this season, though the Rangers could eventually decide to move him in an effort to clear space for top prospect Joey Gallo at a corner infield spot.
