Update -- The Rangers and Dodgers are the favorites to land Cole Hamels, according to ESPN's Jayson Stark.

The Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers have emerged over the weekend as the likely favorites to trade for Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels, multiple sources said.

Update -- Texas is the favorite to acquire Cole Hamels before the end of next week, according to Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan.

Original -- Cole Hamels might have made his last career start with the Phillies on Saturday afternoon. Hamels threw a no-hitter against the Cubs, and according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the offers being made for Hamels have improved since his outing against Chicago.

Rosenthal adds teams are asking for the Phillies to include less money in the deal and have started to offer better players. Some teams were initially thought to be bothered by the fact Philadelphia would not include a notable amount of cash in a deal for Hamels. Hamels' six-year, $144 million contract runs through 2018 and also includes an option year. But since his value is likely at a season high following his first career no-hitter, the Phillies might not be in a position to pay a significant portion of his remaining contract.

Although Hamels' name has consistently been mentioned in trade rumors, before his outing against the Cubs, he had difficulty throwing strikes. Heading into his start on Saturday, Hamels had allowed 14 runs and 20 hits over 6.1 innings in his previous two starts combined.

As of Saturday afternoon, the Yankees had contacted the Phillies with regard to Hamels however New York did not want to part with the prospects (Aaron Judge, Luis Severino) Philadelphia was interested in.

Scott Kazmir was the first big name starter to be dealt and Hamels, Johnny Cueto, and Jeff Samardzija are all expected to be traded before the end of next week. Cueto was almost sent to Kansas City on Saturday night and the Reds and Royals are reportedly still discussing a deal. With big name pieces starting to be dealt quickly, the Phillies might look to deal Hamels over the next few days.

Rosenthal adds the Cubs, Dodgers, Rangers, Yankees, and Giants have all recently expressed interest in Hamels. With better offers being made, Hamels might be dealt fairly soon after a quality outing against the Cubs.
