Padres trade rumors: Multiple teams interested in Tyson Ross

The Padres have a plethora of players that they could trade, and it looks like Tyson Ross is attracting the most interest.

San Diego has a lot of players that they can trade before the July 31st deadline has passed, and it appears as if Tyson Ross is their most coveted piece.

In 122.2 innings this season, Ross has a K/9 of 9.68, a HR/9 of 0.22, an ERA of 3.45, and an FIP of 2.75 to go along with it. He's coming off a fantastic 2014 season, and being that he's signed through the end of 2017, the Padres could get quite the prospect package in exchange for Ross.

Heyman mentions the Blue Jays, Rangers, Dodgers, and Astros as teams that are currently looking at Ross. Toronto makes a lot of sense, especially since they've been linked to the Padres since the beginning of the month. Alex Anthopoulos is looking to acquire both a starting pitcher, as well as a reliever, and more than a few people have reported that he could accomplish both in one trade with San Diego.

It would seem unlikely for the Dodgers to be in the mix for Ross, as the Padres are a division rival, but they did complete a trade in the offseason for Matt Kemp, which suggests that might not be an issue. The Astros already acquired Scott Kazmir, but Jeff Luhnow could look to get another starter for their playoff push. Ross would also be around for at least two more seasons, and would be able to contribute beyond 2015.
