The Jays promoted assistant GM Tony LaCava to general manager after Alex Anthopoulos rejected an extension offer and decided to leave the club in late October. President Mark Shapiro will have final say on baseball personnel decisions.

Jennings was previously the GM of the team before becoming their manager during the season, returning to the front office at the end of the year, and then being fired.
