NL West 10/27: Rockies could have new manager lined up

See what’s going on in the National League West.

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at Arizona Diamondbacks Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Corey Seager and Kenley Jansen were both named to the 2016 National Sporting News All-Star team. The team was decided by 27 National League executives at the close of the regular season. Seager was also named Sporting News’ NL Rookie of the Year.

Here’s a take that comin’ in hot for ya: The Dodgers must bring back Justin Turner at all costs.

The Tigers could be selling off almost all of their talent, and lemme tell you the Giants are here for it. San Fransisco picking up Verlander? Are you kidding me? None of this is fair. Acquisitions of this nature could potentially break the rules of space and math, therefore making 2017 an even year.

With arbitration predictions for 2017 out and about, let’s take a peak at what the Padres payroll could be come next season.

The Rockies could have a new manager in Marlins bench coach Tim Wallach.

While Wallach coached under Don Mattingly in 2016, he has experience captaining his own team. In 2009 and 2010 he managed the Albuquerque Isotopes, then the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate. Under Wallach’s managing the Isotopes not only earned a franchise record of 80 wins, but he was named the Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year. While the Rockies most likely won’t name a manager until the World Series is over, our money is on Wallach.

There’s a new front office in town for the Diamondbacks. General manager Mike Hazen and assistant general manager Amiel Sawdaye are the new around these parts, and they took a moment out of their busy day rebuilding an baseball empire to speak with AZ Snake Pit’s Jim McLennan.

What went into the decision to take this job, and what made it appealing?

Obviously, the relationship with Mike made it the most appealing. There’s a lot of good, young talent here - a lot of really good people. really good players, up and down the roster. I think the new challenge for me, is something that I’m really excited about, and I’m excited to be out here in the desert.”

Certainly gives you hope on where this franchise is heading.
