AL West: Angels sign RHP Jesse Chavez

Check out what’s going on in the American League West.

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at Arizona Diamondbacks Joshua Dahl-USA TODAY Sports

The Angels have signed RHP Jesse Chavez to a one-year, $5.75M deal.

Chavez isn’t making a huge geographical change, coming over from the other Los Angeles team, the Dodgers. While the Dodgers utilized the 33-year old as a starter, the Angels will try to take his experience and give it a front row seat in their rotation.

Chavez doesn’t have sparkling numbers. He finished the 2016 season with a 4.43 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 67 innings pitched.

Here’s more of what’s going on around the American League West.

The Oakland A’s have traded Danny Valencia to Seattle. In return, the A’s will receive RHP Paul Blackburn. Blackburn is one of the Mariners top prospects.

Meanwhile, the internet expressed their feelings on this trade in way that only the internet can: with absolute sass and a touch of genuine thought.

Either way, here’s a little welcome for you, Danny, with love from the Mariners community.

Get to know Danny Valencia!
