White Sox trade rumors: Braves focused on Chris Sale

It’s still unclear whether the White Sox will move him.

After adding a pair of veteran pitchers, the Braves are focusing on acquiring Chris Sale this offseason, according to David O’Brien of The Atlantic Journal-Constitution.

While Atlanta could pursue Sale, a potential ace, as it prepares to play in a new ballpark, the White Sox might not be open to moving him. Sale drew interest in advance of the non-waiver trade deadline, but the White Sox opted not to trade him.

Though the Braves already boast a pitching staff that now features R.A. Dickey and Bartolo Colon, they might not consider parting with several top prospects in exchange for a few years of Sale.

Sale pitched to a 3.34 ERA and 3.46 FIP over 226.2 innings with the White Sox last season. His current contract ends at the end of 2017 but also includes team options for the 2018 and 2019 seasons that would almost certainly be exercised by a team that acquires him.
