The Dodgers have been linked to Brian Dozier this offseason and are open to including top pitching prospect Jose De Leon in a deal for Minnesota’s second baseman, according to Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan.
It’s unlikely the Dodgers are the only team interested in Dozier, who would add a right-handed presence that Los Angeles’ lineup lacked last season. The Twins are fond of Dodgers prospect Cody Bellinger, according to FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman, but a package featuring De Leon and Bellinger might not be realistic.
Here’s more from around the National League West:
- If Madison Bumgarner and Buster Posey didn’t sign extensions, they would have been free agents this winter. Think about that for a minute.
- The Padres have added several top-level arms to their minor league system this winter. Eventually, it should pay off.
- Though the Diamondbacks could explore upgrades, they really just need AJ Pollock and David Peralta to be healthy next season.
- Colorado signed Mike Dunn, who had success pitching in Miami, to a three-year deal.
- Casey Fien had an inconsistent 2016 season with the Dodgers.
