Good morning baseball fans!
The Padres signed Jhoulys Chacin to a one-year deal Saturday afternoon:
Chacin, who turns 29 next month, joins Christian Friedrich, Luis Perdomo, Paul Clemens and Jarred Cosart in a rotation group that is likely to see more veterans added before Opening Day. The trades of Andrew Cashner, Drew Pomeranz and James Shields last season along with the non-tendering of Ross has left San Diego very weak in terms of starting depth.
Los Angeles might be willing to include prospect Jose De Leon in a potential trade for Brian Dozier.
It seems the Tigers are hoping to sign Alex Avila:
#Tigers would love to sign Alex Avila as LH bat to complement James McCann. But Avila made $2.5M in 2016. Even that's too rich for Detroit.

Minnesota is open to trading Brian Dozier, but the package has to be significant:
#MNTwins official w/ fingerprints all over Dozier trade talks: "Nothing is imminent." Has to be a very strong offer to move him.

The Orioles are not close to adding Mark Trumbo:
Fans asking about Trumbo/#orioles: talks stalled. Offer off table. But same was true with CD last winter and it worked out. Stay tuned

Arizona added a right-handed reliever who could compete for a bullpen spot:
Dbacks have signed right-hander Keyvius Sampson to a minor league deal. He'll compete in spring training for a bullpen spot.

Don Mattingly probably had something to do with this:
The #Marlins have signed RHP Javy Guerra to Minors deal with Spring Training invite.

Interesting note for the White Sox here:
Blake smith signing was actually with chisox

Philadelphia adds catching depth:
Bryan Holaday has agreed to a minor-league deal with the #Phillies. Non-roster invite. Will compete for backup catcher job.
