The Orioles are still looking for offensive help and are interested in free-agents Dexter Fowler and Pedro Alvarez, according to a report from Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com. Rosenthal adds that the team is also interested in acquiring Reds outfielder Jay Bruce, though they may not have the prospects that Cincinnati would want in a trade.
Baltimore has already committed $161 million to Chris Davis this winter and is expected to sign Yovani Gallardo for $40-45 million in the next couple of days, so the team would likely only look at Fowler or Alvarez on low-cost deals. ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Baltimore is only interested in Fowler on a deal in the 2-year, $20 million range, and the outfielder may be at the point in the market where he is willing to consider such a contract.
The O's have been reluctant to part with draft picks in order to sign big-time free-agents this winter, though appear to have finally broken down and made a move with their pending addition of Gallardo. With the 14th-overall pick already gone, Baltimore appears willing to sacrifice its second selection and add a significant piece like Fowler.
