Good morning baseball fans!
Texas is reportedly interested in adding Ian Desmond as a left fielder.
While the addition of Desmond would likely improve the Rangers' lineup, the organization has said it does not have a desire to add to its payroll before the season begins. The club's 2016 payroll is already expected to exceed $145 million, and since Desmond received and denied a qualifying offer, the Rangers would lose the No. 19 pick if Desmond was signed.
Arizona signed Rickie Weeks to a minor league deal.
Neal Cotts heads to Houston on a minor league contract.
The Rangers signed Drew Stubbs, who could win a roster spot.
Austin Jackson turned down an offer from the Angels.
Hunter Pence is suffering from Achilles tendinitis, according to MLB.com's Chris Haft.
There is still a lot of interest in Jorge Soler on the trade market, Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe notes.
Milwaukee is still considering a Jonathan Lucroy trade, Cafardo adds.
Detroit will be among the clubs watching Tim Lincecum pitch, according to ESPN's Katie Strang.
