Good morning baseball fans!
Pittsburgh signed David Freese to a one-year deal and there is a very good chance he makes the club's roster:
Freese gives the Pirates depth at first base and could become a platoon partner for John Jaso. Michael Morse could also serve in that capacity but might also be used as an outfielder.
Athletics pitcher Jarrod Parker is out with a fracture and is considering his options moving forward.
Six clubs are interested in Alejandro De Aza, which might encourage the Mets to move him.
St. Louis is interested in Ruben Tejada:
Tejada, 26, faces an uphill battle to make New York's Opening Day roster, as the team has Cabrera, Neil Walker, Wilmer Flores and Dilson Herrera in the mix at the position. St. Louis is known to be looking for shortstop help after losing Jhonny Peralta to a severe thumb injury, and is known to be considering external options.
Chicago was open to signing Ian Desmond for more than $4 million:
Chisox sought desmond for SS late for "north of" alexei's 4M, but when he didn't take it spent 10M on latos/rollins/ajax
