The Mariners have acquired reliever Nick Vincent from the Padres for a player to be named later, according to a club announcement.

Seattle and San Diego have been discussing relief pitchers in trade talks all week, with Seattle also showing interest in Kevin Quackenbush and Jon Edwards. San Diego was looking to move a reliever before Opening Day, and the out-of-options Vincent will join the Mariners for the last week of camp.

Vincent joins Steve Cishek, Joaquin Benoit, Joel Peralta and Evan Scribner as new additions in Seattle's bullpen, and will likely see time in the sixth and seventh innings this season. He posted a solid 2.35 ERA in 23 innings for San Diego last season while also seeing a significant amount of time at Triple-A El Paso.

Vincent, 29, is a veteran of four major-league seasons with the Padres. He has posted a career 9-6 record and 2.63 ERA in 161 games over that time.
