Triple plays are not too common, so when they happen, there is a clear inclination to appreciate them that much more.
Chicago turned its first triple play in 10 years Friday. It didn't appear to be easy, though.
Ian Desmond got too far from first base, Adrian Beltre got stuck between second and third and Prince Fielder never left third base.
It was a 9-3-2-6-2-5 triple play that came on a line drive. Far from ordinary, which makes it that much more distinct.
More from around the AL Central:
- Kris Medlen didn't command his pitches well in his latest outing. And that cost the Royals relatively quickly.
- To this point, the Indians have taken a comparably patient approach at the plate. Will it pay off as the season progresses?
- Detroit can't figure out what the problem is. But that's the first step to solving any problem.
- Target Field paid homage to Prince.
- The White Sox have been a part of some notably memorable triple plays.
- Wade Davis and Salvador Perez might not currently be on the same page.
- You should watch Derek Hill's over the shoulder catch.
