In a 13 inning loss to the Pirates on Sunday afternoon, the Diamondbacks were forced to pull out all the stops, including using two of their starting pitchers in place of position players. Zack Greinke was used as a pinch-hitter, and then Shelby Miller was used as a pinch runner, before a Nick Ahmed ejection forced Miller to be place in left field.
The icing on the cake? Pittsburgh starter Jon Niese was used as a pinch hitter and he picked up an RBI single in this strange game.
