Good morning baseball fans!

Chicago lost a member of its core Friday night. The Cubs will be without outfielder Kyle Schwarber for the rest of the season:

Schwarber, 23, is a member of the Cubs' young core and was set to get his first start of the season behind the plate Friday. He was split time with Jorge Soler, since the Cubs signed Jason Heyward and re-signed Fowler.

He batted .246 to complement 16 home runs and 43 RBIs last season and was expected to be an integral part of the Cubs offense.

Mets starter Zack Wheeler will undergo a minor procedure to remove a stitch from his Tommy John surgery.

San Diego signed James Loney to a minor league deal after he was released by the Rays.
