MLB hands out suspensions after Rangers-Blue Jays brawl

A list of the suspensions that are expected to be announced by Major League Baseball this afternoon.

Major League Baseball has announced its ruling on punishments stemming from the Rangers-Blue Jays brawl this afternoon, with six suspensions and 14 fines handed out. Here's the full list:


  • Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor received an 8-game suspension and will be fined $5,000 for punching Jose Bautista, as first reported by Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Odor will appeal.
  • Blue Jays manager John Gibbons received a 3-game suspension for re-entering the field of play after being ejected, according to's Ken Rosenthal.
  • Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Chavez received a 3-game suspension for throwing at Prince Fielder, according to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi.
  • Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista received a 1-game suspension for his role in the brawl, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation.
  • Blue Jays first base coach Tim Leiper received a 1-game suspension, according to the league announcement.


  • Seven Rangers received fines: Odor, Andrus, right-handed pitcher Matt Bush, right-handed pitcher Sam Dyson, right-handed pitcher A.J. Griffin, catcher Robinson Chirinos and bench coach Steve Buechele.
  • Seven Blue Jays received fines: Gibbons, Chavez, Bautista, Leiper, third baseman Josh Donaldson, outfielder Kevin Pillar and bench coach DeMarlo Hale.
