NL East Notes: Harvey not resting, Marlins suing season ticket holders

The latest news from around the National League East

MLB: New York Mets at Washington Nationals Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

When it's bad, it's bad. That's where it's at for Mets right-hander Matt Harvey. Nothing seems to be working, yet the Mets appear hesitant to remove him from the rotation. And that's causing some to question why they won't give him some rest.

If the Mets believe it's a focus/stamina issue, a potential skipped start or two-week DL stint may be exactly what Harvey needs to reboot and get back to his old ways. With the way the top of the rotation is gelling, and with the team within striking distance of first, balancing winning and not wasting Harvey starts is going to become crucial in the coming months.

More from around the National League East:

  • File this under the weird news section. With their attendance near the bottom of the MLB, the Marlins are resorting to a rather unusual tactic: suing their season ticket holders.
  • Everybody likes to talk about the first round of drafts, but the later rounds are where many teams score, especially in the MLB. For the Phillies, they are in a good position to strike in the first and second rounds.
  • Speaking of draft picks, the Braves basically bought a pick from the Orioles by taking on the salary of Brian Matusz, and that's a big deal.
  • Forget Bryce Harper. Ben Revere's offense is crucial to the success of the Nationals lineup.
