Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann is looking ready to make his return from a groin injury, and that includes making his start on Friday against the White Sox. Zimmermann did some fielding drills on Monday, and will throw another bullpen session on Tuesday.
Zimmerman has been great for the Tigers, having a 7-2 record with a 2.52 ERA. Upon his return, the Tigers are going to need to make a decision, as they have six starters on the roster right now. The rest of the week will see Anibal Sanchez, Michael Fulmer and Matt Boyd pitcher, but when Zimmermann does return, they will go back to a normal rotation.
More from around the American League Central:
- With Danny Santana going on the 15-day disabled list, the Twins pulled the trigger on calling up prospect Byron Buxton, who was hitting .333 with a .402 on-base percentage in Triple A. There is concern, however, that the Twins aren't calling him up for the right reasons.
- The best hitter on the Cleveland Indians last week? Jose Ramirez.
- Alcides Escobar is the Royals leadoff hitter, and he is showing why it is so important to have a good leadoff hitter.
- Following calls for Robin Ventura to be fired as White Sox manager, ace pitcher Chris Sale came to the defense of his skipper.
