There is no greater thrill in sports than sitting quietly while a man in a suit slowly reads off a list of names over the course of several days. Fortunately for baseball fans, that time of the year has once again arrived.
It will be MLB commissioner Rob Manfred in his second year at the podium as he informs young ball players from around the country of the teams with which they will begin their careers, starting with the Phillies, who have pick No. 1, down to all the compensation picks flying around in the mid to late twenties, and beyond.
As for the picks themselves, who knows what the first round holds? Will the Phillies take Iowa's A.J. Puk? Do the Reds snag Mercer's Kyle Lewis? Will the Braves pick up the phone to make a trade, but accidentally order a pizza? Only time will tell, as for a group of elite youngsters, the future begins on June 9.

How will MLB Daily Dish cover the draft and how can I follow?
Thanks for asking! Our entire staff will be on hand to help cover the draft, but the most exciting news is that we'll have our very own MLB Insider Chris Cotillo reporting LIVE from the draft itself. That will be amazing.
We'll have a post for all of the top 40-ish draft picks as they're announced, and we'll post each to a live thread. We'll also have you covered on Twitter, and if you want to show your weird Uncle and / or former high school friends, on Facebook too.
