If you haven’t been paying close attention to the calendar, you might be missing an impressive stretch of baseball by the Houston Astros. Since the 1st of May, Houston has gone 29-19 and if they were to continue on that pace, they would finish the 2016 campaign with 90 wins. That mark would be rather surprising, especially given their 7-17 start to the year.
That being said, it is still going to be a tough task for this team to continue playing better than .600 baseball with 100 games left in the season. What can be acknowledged is that their rough start is probably behind them and they will be in position to compete for a Wild Card spot.
More from around the American League West:
- The Rangers are about to see their starting pitching depth get tested, as Colby Lewis is slated to miss two months and Derek Holland as been placed on the disabled list. That doesn’t include Yu Darvish, who is already on the disabled list.
- Are the Oakland Athletics taking their contact approach a little too far?
- Despite being ten games below .500, the Angels find themselves near the top of attendance across baseball.
- ESPN’s Keith Law talked to “Brock and Salk” in Seattle on Tuesday about what the Seattle Mariners would need to do to get themselves back into AL West race.
