AL West Notes: Astros turnaround, Rangers

The latest news from around the American League West.

MLB: Los Angeles Angels at Houston Astros Thomas B. Shea-USA TODAY Sports

If you haven’t been paying close attention to the calendar, you might be missing an impressive stretch of baseball by the Houston Astros. Since the 1st of May, Houston has gone 29-19 and if they were to continue on that pace, they would finish the 2016 campaign with 90 wins. That mark would be rather surprising, especially given their 7-17 start to the year.

That being said, it is still going to be a tough task for this team to continue playing better than .600 baseball with 100 games left in the season. What can be acknowledged is that their rough start is probably behind them and they will be in position to compete for a Wild Card spot.
