AL East Notes: Yankees reliever rumors, Floyd to the DL

The latest from around the AL East.

MLB: Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports

Several teams have expressed interest in Atheltics left-handed reliever Sean Doolittle, and his market could affect how teams pursue Yankees relievers Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller, according to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.

If the Yankees aren’t considering trades involving Chapman and Miller, the price for Doolittle could increase significantly.

The Athletics are drawing trade interest in Doolittle, sources says, and the demand for him will rise even higher if the Yankees refuse to trade their own left-handed relievers, Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller. But a future bullpen anchored by Doolittle and right-handers Madson and Ryan Dull could be formidable.

More from around the AL East:

  • Boston optioned Eduardo Rodriguez to Triple-A Monday night after a rough outing against Tampa Bay.

  • The Rays’ outfield depth is really being tested, but it’s probably too soon to count Jaff Decker out.

  • With National League games scheduled in the near future, the Orioles have some pitchers who could hit.

  • Toronto placed Gavin Floyd on the disabled list with a shoulder injury.

  • If the Yankees are going to trade Andrew Miller, now might be the best time to do it.
