Diamondbacks trade rumors: Daniel Hudson, Brad Ziegler might be package deal

Diamondbacks general manager Dave Stewart said that clubs are considering relievers Daniel Hudson and Brad Ziegler as part of a package deal, according to FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal.

Both Hudson and Ziegler are going to be free agents at the end of the season, so this potential package deal will end up being a rental for whomever trades for the two, together or separately.

Hudson, 29, has pitched 30.1 innings in 33 appearances and has a 3.26 ERA. Ziegler, 36, has pitched 34.1 innings in 32 appearances and has a 2.88 ERA. Hudson has recorded one save, while Ziegler has recorded 16.

There’s no word on which teams have reached out to the Diamondbacks regarding the two relievers. Stewart has previously expressed interest in signing both relievers to extensions before the August 1 non-waiver trade deadline, though no talks have taken place to this point.

Currently, the Diamondbacks are 36-44 and are 13.5 games back in the NL West, being fourth in the division. They are, however, also only six games back in the Wild Card race. So, barring a massive collapse from the Diamondbacks or any team they are competing with, really, it might come down to the wire to know whether or not the Diamondbacks are sellers.
