Chicago acquired veteran starter James Shields from the Padres on Saturday afternoon and it doesn't appear the club is done adding to its roster ahead of the non-waiver trade deadline.

The White Sox do have the financial flexibility and depth necessary to make other moves and it appears they are still discussing other ways to upgrade the roster.

The club is sitting at third place in the American League Central and could be seeking a left-handed bat and relief help, according to 670 The Score's Bruce Levine:

More from around the American League Central:

  • Kansas City is planning to have Whit Merrifield start the majority of games at second base moving forward. Merrifield has been a utility player for the Royals, who appear set to move on from Omar Infante.

  • Over the last two seasons, Carlos Carrasco has proven to be one of the better pitchers in the game. However, it doesn't seem like many people outside of Cleveland are aware.

  • Detroit has the ninth overall pick in the upcoming draft, the highest pick its had since 2009. Most mock drafts have the Tigers selecting a pitcher to add another arm to their farm system.

  • The Royals are interested in Cuban free agent second baseman Jose Miguel Fernandez.
