As the deadline draws near, one of the biggest questions surrounding every team is “what will they do at the deadline?” For the Phillies, the answer may be found in their outfield.
A logjam is about to be created in the outfield for Philadelphia, with Aaron Altherr halfway through his minor-league rehab assignment and Nick Williams lighting it up in Triple-A.
They will have to decided what to do with Peter Bourjos and Cody Asche, who both had good June’s to keep themselves in the conversation.
More from around the National League East:
- The Braves are still searching for their catcher for the future, with A.J. Pierzynski being 39-years-old. They could target Jonathan Lucroy or Brian McCann.
- Miguel Rojas is a potential replacement for Adeiny Hechavarria, who they are considering moving.
- Dusty Baker blew a game against the Nationals over the weekend, admitted by him. Now the team is faced with another test of resilience.
- Just after being called up by the Mets, Michael Conforto is now a candidate to play center-field at points during the rest of the season, according to Terry Collins.
