The latest news surrounding the American League West.

With less than two weeks to the trade deadline, teams are beginning to put together plans for what their potential market scenarios look like. The Texas Rangers have made it clear that they are looking for starting pitching help, although they may not be able to find another Cole Hamels out there.

And they have to weigh the fact that they will be asked for Joey Gallo, Nomar Mazara or Jurickson Profar. If they choose to aim high, for a Chris Sale or Sonny Gray, they will need to part with one of those guys.

More from around the American League West:

  • In the latest edition of the Angels mailbag for the LA Times, Pedro Moura is asked about when the Angels will compete again.
  • The A’s have found their power again. How will it affect them?
  • Houston might want to root for expansion, as that could allow them to play more games in their own time zone.
  • Brock Huard suggested three moves that the Mariners could make to save their season, as they sit at .500 and 4.5 games out of that second wild-card spot.
