Good morning baseball fans!
Atlanta, despite struggling this season, is considering trading for Chris Sale before the deadline:
Although the Braves have spent the last two years dealing away veterans, general manager John Coppolella has publicly stated that the team would have interest in adding controllable starting pitching at this year’s trade deadline. With Julio Teheran unlikely to be dealt, Atlanta’s main deadline focus is said to be dealing some lower-end veterans like Lucas Harrell, Jeff Francoeur and Erick Aybar before the end of the month.
An injury to Joey Rickard has the Orioles considering an upgrade in their outfield.
Both Andrew Cashner and Melvin Upton are drawing a notable amount of interest.
Chris Sale decided not to make his start Saturday because of the uniforms the White Sox were asked to wear:
Chicago’s decision to scratch Sale caused wild speculation around baseball circles just a day after it was reported that the team is listening to offers on both Sale and lefty Jose Quintana. Teams like the Red Sox and Rangers were rumored to have some interest in Sale, though the ChiSox are requiring a massive return in talks.
Chicago’s asking price is “prohibitive,” according to an executive who has talked to them about Sale in recent days. The White Sox are looking for five top-level prospects, according to industry sources.
The Yankees are close to trading Aroldis Chapman but will keep Andrew Miller.

Texas wants to add Chris Sale:

The Twins don’t have the most attractive pieces at the moment:
Sense is that contenders view #MNTwins as "backup plan" should first-tier trade targets fall through. Waiting for other dominoes to fall.— Mike Berardino (@MikeBerardino) July 23, 2016
Texas added a utility infielder:
