The Cubs scratched infield prospect Gleyber Torres before his game today at High-A Myrtle Beach due to ongoing trade talks, according to an industry source with knowledge of the situation.

Torres is known to be of interest to the Yankees, who are in ongoing negotiations with the Cubs about a deal for closer Aroldis Chapman. Chapman is expected to be traded soon, with the Cubs, Indians, Nationals and Rangers among the most involved clubs.

According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Cubs have offered Torres and other players to the Yankees for Chapman. Heyman adds that if Torres is traded, it will be as part of a package for Chapman.

Torres, 19, is the Cubs’ top prospect and ranks as the 24th-best prospect in baseball, according to MLB.com. He is blocked at the major-league level by Addison Russell, who was the starting shortstop for the National League in this year’s All-Star Game.
