Cubs trade rumors: Deal for Chapman will include ‘much more’ than expected

Yesterday, the trade being circulated between the Cubs and Yankees for flamethrowing reliever Aroldis Chapman was pretty typical for this time of year. Chicago needed late inning bullpen help, and the Yankees had the experienced reliever they sought. In exchange, the Cubs would send over a minor league asset the Yankees liked, in this case Single-A shortstop Gleyber Torres.

BUT WAIT JUST A SECOND, says Ken Rosenthal.

The players, it seems are “agreed upon” according to Rosenthal.

Warren was recently sent back down to Triple-A after the Cubs brought Joe Nathan back from the DL. He appeared in 29 games, made one start, and logged a 5.91 ERA. The 28-year-old hurler had come to Chicago from the Yankees, for whom he had a 3.39 ERA since first appearing in pinstripes in 2012.

We can only assume at this point what “much more” really means, and how many players and teams the Cubs and Yankees have involved in their swirling black hole of a trade.
