MLB trade rumors: Dodgers willing to include Julio Urias in package for Chris Sale

The White Sox may not yet be willing to move ace Chris Sale before the trade deadline next Monday, but that doesn’t mean other teams aren’t going to try to persuade them. According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Dodgers would be willing to include top prospect Julio Urias in a package for Sale if he is made available.

Sherman notes that the Dodgers were not willing to include Urias in offers for Cole Hamels last year before Hamels was dealt to the Rangers for a strong package of prospects. Sale’s ability and team-friendly contract put him in a different stratosphere for the Dodgers, as Los Angeles looks to give Clayton Kershaw a co-ace.

Los Angeles is expected to be aggressive in its pursuit of starters at the deadline, with Kershaw, Hyun-jin Ryu, Alex Wood and Brett Anderson currently sidelined due to injury. The long-term prognoses is not yet known for Kershaw, though the most recent reports suggest that season-ending surgery would be an option.

Chicago is said to be at least listening on offers for Sale and Jose Quintana, which is a smart play in a market with very little available in terms of starting pitching. The Dodgers, along with the Red Sox, Rangers, and potentially, the Braves, have the prospects to blow the ChiSox away with an offer they cannot resist.
