Trade talks involving Reds outfielder have picked up, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN and Baseball America. Crasnick tweeted that the Reds are talking to at least four clubs and are seeking a top prospect in return.
The Blue Jays were one of the favorites to land Bruce in recent reports, but acquiring Melvin Upton Jr. from the Padres may take them out of the running. Toronto, of course, had a 3-team deal involving Bruce and Michael Saunders agreed upon with the Reds and Angels during spring training before a minor-leaguer’s failed physical called the trade to be scuttled.
Bruce has drawn interest from many clubs on the trade market, including the Indians, Nationals, Rangers, Dodgers, Giants and Orioles. Recent reports have downplayed Cleveland’s interest, and there’s no clear favorite to land Bruce at this time.
Bruce has a limited no-trade clause that he is willing to waive if included in a deal to a contender. The teams included on that list are the Yankees, Red Sox, Athletics, Rays, Marlins, Twins, Indians and D-backs.
