Good morning baseball fans!

Washington improved the back-end of its bullpen, acquiring Mark Melancon from the Pirates on Saturday:

Washington has been aggressively pursuing back-end bullpen help for weeks, with Aroldis Chapman, Andrew Miller, Wade Davis and Jeremy Jeffress among the other names they have considered. Melancon just became available in recent days, with the Pirates looking to cash in on his pending free agency.

Wade Davis will undergo an MRI, which means the Royals probably won’t be in a position to trade him.

The Braves and Padres agreed to a deal that sent Matt Kemp to Atlanta in exchange for Hector Olivera:

Atlanta has been known to be looking for creative offensive upgrades this month, and will add Kemp to an outfield mix that currently includes Nick Markakis, Ender Inciarte and trade candidate Jeff Francoeur.

Kemp, 31, is under control through the 2019 season and is owed about $72 million over the next three years. The Dodgers will kick in $3.5 million in each of the next three seasons, and San Diego will kick in some cash as well.

Baltimore wants to add a left-handed starting pitcher and is interested in Wade Miley.

Kansas City acquired outfielder Billy Burns from the Athletics:

Kansas City was thought to be a seller in advance of Monday’s deadline, but appears to have made a long-term addition in Burns, who is under control through 2020. Oakland is selling pieces, though Burns’ name was never mentioned in rumors.

The Yankees are gauging interest in catcher Brian McCann.

Texas is seeking starting help, but a deal for Vince Velasquez seems unlikely.

Both the Rangers and Indians are interested in Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran.

Arizona’s deal involving Daniel Hudson fell apart:

Rich Hill was placed on the disabled list:
