Los Angeles have acquired outfielder Josh Reddick and starter Rich Hill from the Athletics in exchange for right-handers Frankie Montas, Grant Holmes and Jharel Cotton, as first reported by FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.

The Dodgers had been seeking starting pitching help since Clayton Kershaw has been sidelined with a herniated disc in his back. With Andrew Cashner and Drew Pomeranz already off the market, the Dodgers turned their attention to adding Hill.

While Hill was placed on the disabled list over the weekend, he will likely be a valuable addition to the front end of the Dodgers’ staff, which has pitched to a 3.80 ERA. The mark ranks fifth in the National League.

Hill, 36, has had a solid season, pitching to a 2.25 ERA and 2.53 FIP over 76.0 innings with the Athletics. He is an affordable option, with the Dodgers on the hook for the remainder of his $6 million salary.

Oakland was reportedly open to moving Reddick if the two sides were unable to agree on an extension. Reddick is batting .296/.368/.449 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs this season.

The Dodgers are open to moving Yasiel Puig if they landed another outfielder, according to Rosenthal. Reddick gives the club another outfield option to turn to, with Puig drawing interest.

Los Angeles has also been linked to Chris Sale, and the Dodgers might be able to add Sale if a package is built around Puig and prospects.

Holmes, Los Angeles’ fifth-best prospect according to MLB.com, has pitched to a 4.02 ERA over 105.1 innings in Single-A this season.

MLB.com deemed Montas, who has pitched to a 2.38 ERA in the Pacific Coast League, the Dodgers’ eighth-best prospect.

Cotton has pitched to a 4.90 ERA over 97.1 innings this season.
