Good morning baseball fans!
Minnesota placed Kurt Suzuki on waivers:
Suzuki, 32, has posted a respectable .283/.324/.438 line with six homers in 79 games for the Twins, who signed him to a 2-year, $12 million extension before the trade deadline two years ago. His contract includes a $6 million vesting option for next season if he reaches 485 plate appearances, though he has only stepped in the box 285 times this year and seems unlikely to reach that mark.
Michael Brantley is out for the remainder of the season.
Washington released Jonathan Papelbon:
Papelbon hasn’t appeared in a game since August 6th and has pitched just 2.1 innings in the entire month of August. The team’s former closer was officially ousted from the ninth-inning role when the Nationals acquired Mark Melancon from the Pirates at the trade deadline.
Aaron Judge and Tyler Austin were called upon by the Yankees.
Another left-handed relief option is available:
LHP Tom Gorzellany has been released by Norfolk. #Orioles

San Diego is relying on its depth:
Brandon Morrow is back in the majors, as a reliever. Padres selected him from AAA. Buddy Baumann optioned. Cory Spangenberg to 60-day DL.

Things haven’t gone well for the Angels of late:
#Angels Shane Robinson is on the DL with a right hip flexor strain. IF Sean Coyle DFA'd to make room for Buss on 40-man. Claimed last month
