AL Central Notes: Michael Fulmer, Twins call-ups

The latest from around the American League Central.

MLB: Detroit Tigers at Texas Rangers Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

As a rookie, Michael Fulmer has a chance to make some history. The pitcher that the Detroit Tigers got back for trading Yoenis Cespedes to the Mets has had quite the first season in the big leagues.

It’s been such a dominant season, there is a chance that the 23-year-old might have the opportunity to win the ERA title, Rookie of the Year and Cy-Young all in the same season.

More from around the American League Central:

  • September means the rosters expand, and for teams like the Twins, it’s a chance to see some kids in action. Who might make the trip north?
  • At least at this current moment, James Shields is staying in the White Sox rotation.
  • The Dodgers are trying to “give away” Yasiel Puig. At age-25, Puig might be a fit for the Cleveland Indians.
  • Somehow, someway the defending champions have clawed their way back into the playoff picture. Leading the way would be Danny Duffy’s Cy-Young caliber season and Alex Gordon starting to heat up at the dish.
