For those of you who thought you had dreamed that whole “Tim Tebow is going to try to be a Major League Baseball player” story, there is some bad news. Either it is actually happening, or you have been asleep this entire time.
Tebow isn’t everybody’s cup of tea, thanks in large part to the relentless media coverage following every second of his exploits, including this blog post, but he is hoping to convince some baseball scout that he could be their next productive asset at the end of this month.
Tim Tebow's workout for interested #MLB teams is scheduled for Aug. 30 in Los Angeles.

It was earlier in August that news of Tebow “actively pursuing a career in professional baseball” first surfaced. Former MLB catcher Chad Moeller has emerged as Tebow’s trainer and chief cheerleader, having worked for two months with the former NFL quarterback at his training facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. “I truly believe Tim has the skill set and potential to achieve his goal of playing in the Major Leagues,” Moeller said in a statement reported by Ken Rosenthal. Moeller, who spent eleven years in big league baseball, has also cited the financial investment Tebow has made in his training as a reason to take him seriously.
“We all value the dollar, right? This is going to cost him a lot of money to do this,” Moeller said. “What he can make is minimal compared to what he can make doing TV or speaking engagements. This is something he wants and something he’s sacrificing dollars for.”
Moeller has also said that Tebow, who is 28 years old, wouldn’t be placed in rookie leagues. “It’s either going to work or it’s not,” Moeller said, “and it’s going to have to be fast-tracked.”
We’ve already been inside the hypothetical head of an executive who would be considering signing Tebow. We’ve seen footage of his swing. We’ve heard confirmation of his intentions from his agent and his trainer. In one week, the genuinely interested and the morbidly curious alike will gather in the City of Angels to see if this Tebow kid has any real stuff.
